AMD’s latest chipset drivers optimize 7950X3D and 7900X3D processors

According to VideoCardz, AMD R9 7950X3D and R9 7900X3D processors with 3D V-Cache can automatically optimize performance based on workload.

According to reports, AMD’s latest chipset driver will be able to dynamically assign which core the Windows operating system uses. If the workload is cache-sensitive, the OS will prioritize using cores with 3D V-Cache. If the frequency is more important, the higher frequency core will be selected.

As shown in the figure above, the 16-core R9 7950X3D has two CCDs, but only one CCD has a large 3D V-Cache cache, so AMD needs a more reasonable scheduling system to give full play to the game performance of this series of processors. The same goes for the 12-core R9 7900X3D. The R7 7800X3D has only one CCD, which should avoid this problem.

The R9 7900X3D and R9 7950X3D will be available on February 28 at a price of $599 (currently about 4103 CNY) and $699 (currently about 4788 CNY). The R7 7800X3D will be launched later in April, priced at $449 (currently about 3076 CNY).

The parameters are as follows:

R9 7950X3D: 16 cores and 32 threads, up to 5.7GHz, 144MB cache, 120W TDP

R9 7900X3D: 12 cores 24 threads, up to 5.6GHz, 140MB cache, 120W TDP

R7 7800X3D: 8 cores 16 threads, up to 5.0GHz, 104MB cache, 120W TDP
