Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID) and RedGamingTech, two reliable sources, have both recently released information about AMD Zen 5 processors, which may be called the Ryzen 8000 series when they hit the market.
The two reliable sources agree on certain specifications of the Zen 5 processor but disagree on how much of a performance boost it will have.
AMD’s Zen 5 processors will be made on TSMC’s 4nm and 3nm processes. Desktop CPUs will use the 4nm process, while some APUs (others are 4nm) and next-generation server CPUs will use the 3nm process.
RedGamingTech puts Zen 5’s instruction per clock (IPC) improvement in the range of 20-25%, indicating up to 30% in single-threaded tasks.
MLID is more conservative, putting Zen 5’s performance improvement at 15%.
