AMD on its Twitter platform account showed photos of the Raider 7000 processor and AM5 platform.

In the tweet, AMD highlighted several features of the AM5 platform.

LGA socket

Native support for up to 170W

DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support

Compatible with AM4 coolers

The new AMD Socket AM5 platform features a new 1718-pin LGA design that supports processors with up to 170W TDP, dual-channel DDR5 memory and the new SVI3 power infrastructure. AMD Socket AM5 also features PCIe 5.0 lanes, up to 24 of them.

The AM5 series motherboards will be divided into three classes.

  • X670 Extreme: PCIe 5.0 support for two graphics slots and one memory slot, bringing powerful connectivity and higher overclocking performance
  • X670: PCIe5.0 support for one memory slot and one graphics slot (with PCIe5.0 support for the graphics slot optional), designed for enthusiasts to overclock
  • B650: with PCIe 5.0 support for memory slots, designed for high-performance users

In addition, AMD will also launch the B650 Extreme “mid-range flagship” model.

Partners including ASRock, ASUS, Enigma, Gigabyte and MSI are expected to offer motherboard products covering all three chipsets, while many partners including Crucial, Micron and Phison will offer PCIe 5.0 storage solutions.
