Before NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 graphics card and its own RDNA 3 graphics card officially hit the market, AMD’s big Navi-based graphics cards such as the Radeon RX 6900 XT saw significant price drops. AMD’s next-generation graphics cards will be generally available on November 3, although the price of the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT has dropped below $700 a few weeks before the release.
However, it should be noted that this is not an official price adjustment by AMD, but a price reduction by third-party retailers. Prices of almost all high-end GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD have fallen sharply over the past few months due to mining disasters and lower demand for PCs. Since the RTX 4090 is on the way, and the same is starting to happen with the RDNA 2 high-end, the RTX 3090 series has dropped by more than 50% from MSRP.
XFX’s Radeon RX 6900 XT Speedster SWFT 319 and MERC 319 graphics cards are currently down on Amazon.com. The SWFT 319 retails for $689.99 (the model is sold out at the time of writing), while the MERC 319 retails for $699.99.
On Newegg, its ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT Phantom Gaming D is $20 less than the XFX SWFT 319 and retails for $669.99.
Prices are also dropping in the European market, as the Radeon RX 6900 XT has been spotted selling for as low as €736. The cost of the cheapest Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card has dropped by more than 1,000 euros since January of this year. Whether prices will continue to drop further in the coming months after the release of next-gen graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD is unknown.
