The EPYC 9654, the flagship model of AMD’s next-generation Skylar processor released in 2022, has become number one in the PassMark scoreboard.

As you can see above, the PassMark score chart was originally topped by the previous generation 64-core Xiaolong EPYC 7773X, which has since been replaced by the Threadripper 64-core Threadripper Pro 5995WX. The latest winner, the EPYC 9654, now has 96 cores and 192 threads and is 20% ahead of second place.

AMD’s fourth-generation EPYC processors include 14 models ranging from 16 to 96 cores, all with the Zen4 architecture, and also support DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5 storage with CXL1.1+ memory expansion.

AMD says 4th generation AMD EPYC processors deliver a 2.8x performance increase while consuming 54% less power, building on its predecessor’s 300+ world records and supported by a complete software and hardware ecosystem spanning a wide range of workloads including database, virtualization, AI/ML, HPC and other scenarios.
