AMD announced the EPYC Embedded 9004 series of processors for embedded systems at the recent Embedded World 2023 conference.

The fourth-generation EPYC embedded processors are based on the same 5nm Zen 4 architecture as the mainstream “Genoa” platform, providing excellent performance and scalability, and are targeted at networking, security, storage and industrial systems applications.

AMD has launched 10 models for the EPYC Embedded 9004 series, with 16 cores at the lowest end; 96 cores at the highest end. In a dual-socket system, up to 192 cores and 384 threads are available.

The new EPYC Embedded 9004 SKUs follow the mainstream EPYC products to a large extent. As with Genoa, there are also -P variants, which are limited to single-socket configurations.

Embedded devices often have long life cycles, so AMD has committed to “up to 7 years of planned availability” to ensure that parts are available for long-term support.
