Amazon’s “last mile” logistics and distribution center in Sydney was recently completed. The project cost $66 million (currently about RMB 454 million), is located near the Victoria Airport Authority, covering 7.8 acres (about 31565.46 square meters), number DVV2 distribution station.

The highlight of the logistics distribution center is the unique mural on the facade. Amazon commissioned Vancouver-based Ombrae Studios, headed by Victorian-born Roderick Quinn, to create the mural at a total cost of $2 million.

The façade mural was created using a tile laminate called “3D Optical Tiles”, designed with perforated anodized aluminum panels. The tiles are perforated and angled to form the image, as sunlight and shadows help to complete the image.

The exterior mural uses 595 tiles measuring 2 feet by 8 feet to build a 35-foot high, 462-foot long exterior mural depicting mountains, forests and oceans. The entire mural is 14,000 square feet in size.
