Smart #2 can be seen as the successor to Smart’s most classic model, the Smart Fortwo, which will continue to use a two-door, two-seat layout, with news that its length will be raised to 3,100mm. Mingxia zhang said, “Smart #2, whether in China or in Europe, the user’s voices are very high, and people hope that in the era of electrification, the smart can bring back the classic model, we are doing the preliminary preparation”.
‘Suspected Smart #5 spy shots’
The Smart #5 will be a larger model and is expected to come with the smart Pilot Assist 3.0 smart driving system and the smart cockpit will use the AMD V2000 chip. It is said that it will offer single-motor rear-wheel drive, dual-motor four-wheel drive, and will be built on the 800V platform. Zhang Mingxia mentioned that the information of this car will be disclosed to the public after the Spring Festival.
Regarding the charging network layout, Smart’s first 800V ultra-fast charging station has landed in Shanghai, and it’s not hard to see that it’s preparing for the subsequent launch of new cars on the 800V architecture platform. It is reported that Smart’s self-operated charging network will be composed of three parts, including destination charging, DC fast charging for commercial super and cross-city 800V DC ultra-fast charging in three modes. The first commercial super fast charging has landed in Chongqing, and the first destination charging station was opened in Chongli.
In terms of intelligent driving, Zhang Mingxia announced that smart Pilot Assist 3.0 (NSP PRO) will be launched at the end of 2024. version 3.0 will support urban NOA, and it is reported that smart Pilot Assist 3.0 is self-researched by smart Robotics Technology Co. at the software level in the full stack, using NVIDIA Orin chip + LIDAR as the Hardware support.
