ZTE and Vivo sign global patent cross-licensing agreement

ZTE announced today that it had signed a global patent cross-licensing agreement with Vivo, kicking off strategic cooperation between the two parties in the patent field.

Mi Yao, director of the Intellectual Property Department of ZTE Corporation, said: “ZTE Corporation and Vivo have reached a strategic cooperation, which reflects both parties’ respect for intellectual property rights. The cross-licensing agreement between the two parties also reflects the mutual recognition of each other’s contributions to standards in the communications field by Chinese companies. It also demonstrates It shows that domestic innovative enterprises have the determination and ability to find win-win solutions.”

ZTE invested 19.06 billion yuan in R&D in the first three quarters of 2023, accounting for 21.3% of revenue, and has applied for more than 89,500 global patents.

It is worth mentioning that Huawei and Vivo also announced today a global patent cross-licensing agreement. This agreement covers basic patents on cellular communication standards including 5G standards.
