The just-launched Xiaomi Redmi 12C is opening up the new year with some cool budget features. This new device from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is ushering in the 12 series entry from the company. It should not be mistaken for the Note 12 series, as it will instead succeed the Redmi 10 series.

Other entries in the Redmi 12 series with better features for the budget Android market might join this device. As for its specifications, the new Xiaomi Redmi 12C comes with a 6.71-inch HD+ large-screen display. For its processor, this device comes with the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and up to 6GB worth of RAM and 128GB LPDDR4X storage.

The smartphone comes with a simple design that and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, round edges, and a water drop screen cutout. For its camera abilities, this device comes with a 50MP main camera and a secondary lens. In the water drop screen cutout, this device houses a 5MP front-facing. Both rear and front-facing cameras come with a handful of shooting modes to improve picture quality.

Xiaomi Redmi doesn’t specify the exact Android version this device runs on, but clearly states that it gets customizations from the MIUI 13 software. The battery capacity of this device is 5000mAh and Xiaomi Redmi again doesn’t state the device’s charging capabilities. Well, we expect the device to run on Android 12 and charge at a speed of 10W at its minimum.

As for its retail price, the new Xiaomi Redmi 12C will start for 699 Yuan (~$101). The device also comes with four colour options, Shadow Black, Dark Blue, Mint Green, and Lavender. All colour options have a diagonal dark shade line pattern that spans from one end of the device’s rear to the other.
