Xiaomi, Meizu, OPPO and iQOO is testing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 phones

Some Chinese smartphone brands are preparing to launch new phones powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, a chip that is expected to be an overclocked version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a much higher price tag26.

According to Weibo blogger @DigitalChat, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chips are currently being tested by Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Meizu, OPPO and iQOO. iQOO 11S, which is expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of 2023, will be equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chips, and Xiaomi’s new Fold 3 folding screen is also revealed to use this new chip; OPPO’s Realme GT The Neo6 and Ace 2 Pro are also expected to use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chip.

The blogger also said that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 high-band version previously used in Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series phones will lose its exclusivity, with several Chinese smartphone brands, including Asus, OnePlus, Red Magic and Xiaomi, set to get the upgraded chip later this year.

Note: Compared to the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy used in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series brings a 5 percent CPU performance boost, 5.7 percent GPU performance boost and improved AI processing capabilities.
