Formerly known as Twitter’s social platform X officially launched the audio and video call function, users will receive a notification when opening the X application: “Audio and video calls are coming!” However, Elon Musk says this is still a beta version.

In the app’s settings, there’s also an “Enable Audio and Video Calls” switch, which allows users to turn on the feature and choose who they’d like to use it with, including several options that allow users to receive or initiate audio and video calls from contacts, people they follow authenticated users or any of the three. Calls. Users can make a call by opening a private message with another user, selecting the phone icon in the top right corner of the screen, and then selecting Audio or Video Call.

Elon Musk has been hinting at adding audio and video calling to the platform as part of his goal to make it a “universal app.” Elon Musk recently said the feature would be available on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC, and “doesn’t require a phone number.”

It’s unclear whether X has already rolled out the audio and video calling feature broadly, or whether it’s available to non-Premium users.
