World’s smallest 3D printer is only 41mm tall, but still useful

3D printing (3DP) is a kind of additive manufacturing technology, also known as additive manufacturing. It is a technology that uses digital model files as the basis for constructing objects by printing layer by layer using bondable materials such as powdered metal or plastic.

3D printing is typically achieved using digital technology material printers and has applications in jewelry, footwear, industrial design, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries, education, geographic information systems, civil engineering, firearms, and other fields.

However, most 3D printers are currently large, with commercial products such as the Ender 2 Pro, which is the right size, measuring 421 x 383 x 465 millimeters and weighing 4.5 kilograms.

However, one manufacturer is trying to push that boundary by showing off a 3D printer on YouTube that can output clear prints but measures just 18 x 31 x 41 mm and weighs just 17 grams. It’s the smallest one we have seen or heard of so far, and its inventor claims it’s the world’s smallest 3D printer.

YouTuber @My N Mi shows the miniature 3D printer in action, which can make a miniature, translucent model of a green robot in just a few minutes.

From the demo video, the miniature 3D printer appears to be a combination of wood and plastic, with a motor at the bottom that moves a positioning plate up and down, and then an invisible LED original that imprints light onto a resin material in a small slot.

This is how the SLA (resin) 3D printer works, and it requires data to be transferred through a micro USB port on its back.

According to My N Mi, their printer can create items with a volume of 11 x 11 x 17mm, an accuracy of 0.135mm, and a layer resolution of 0.005 to 0.3mm.

As seen below, My N Mi removed this model robot print after printing and placed it in the light. We can see the various detailed parts drawn by this 3D printer.
