With the release of Fedora 38, FESCo has agreed to push the x86_64 / AArch64 ISO image for the Phosh Wayland compositor

The Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee (FESCo) has agreed to create new x86_64 and AArch64 ISO images for mobile devices that use the Phosh Wayland synthesizer.

Phosh is a Wayland compositor developed by Purism and other developers as a GNOME-based Wayland shell focused primarily on mobile devices.

A proposal has been made to create a Fedora Linux image with Phosh and intended for use on Fedora mobile devices on x86_64 and AArch64. The proposal has now been voted on by the FESCO committee and will be released with Fedora 38 next spring.

Fedora’s Mobility SIG has packaged Phosh and related packages into a “phosh-desktop” package group. With FESCo approval, the development team has begun developing x86_64 and AArch64 installation images for mobile devices and tablets. In addition, the Fedora Mobility folks are also looking at Plasma Mobile images.
