HomePod 15.6 adds Siri voice recognition support for Chinese Mandarin (China, Taiwan), Cantonese (China, Hong Kong) and Japanese (Japan). play the user’s music, ask Siri a question or complete a personal request.

Although not mentioned in the release notes, the update adds Swedish and Norwegian Siri support for the HomePod and HomePod mini smart speakers.

Support for Swedish and Norwegian could mean that HomePod mini will be available in Sweden and Norway in the coming months. Apple released the HomePod mini speaker in Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland in late March of this year, following the introduction of Siri support for multiple Dutch and Swiss languages.

In recent months, Apple has also been testing Danish and Finnish Siri with some HomePod mini users, so HomePod mini may eventually launch in Denmark and Finland. However, Danish and Finnish are not yet listed as supported languages.

To change the HomePod or HomePod mini language, open the Home app on iPhone, long-press on the desired HomePod white card, scroll down and tap the Settings gear icon, tap Language, and select from the list.

HomePod mini launches in November 2020 and is available in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Spain, the U.K., Mexico, Taiwan, China, Austria, Ireland, New Zealand, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Apple discontinued the full-size, first-generation HomePod speaker in March 2021.
