He said that when he was shopping for a battery, he found that the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5a were essentially the same size. The Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone measures 153.9 x 74 x 8.2 mm and the Google Pixel 5a smartphone measures 154.9 x 73.7 x 7.6 mm. So he guessed that the battery dimensions might also be relatively similar, so he took a chance on the Pixel 5a’s battery.
