Not long ago at IFA, Qualcomm first demonstrated the actual speed of the new generation of wireless standard Wi-Fi 7, reaching more than 5Gbps, equivalent to 5 times the speed of 5G networks, and now Intel’s Wi-Fi 7 is here, and they have joined forces with Broadcom to achieve the first cross-vendor demonstration of Wi-Fi 7, which also exceeds 5Gbps.
Qualcomm’s trials were cell phone based and now Intel is showing a Wi-Fi 7 demo based on Core laptops with a Wi-Fi 7 solution connected to Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 7 access point.
Intel said it is proud to make the next generation of Wi-Fi 7 a new experience for mobile PCs, and that industry collaboration is critical for Intel to deliver on this technology promise, and they thank Broadcom for their cooperation in helping Intel achieve an unprecedented, first-of-its-kind, ultra-high-speed and ultra-low latency Wi-Fi 7 demonstration.
In August, Intel mentioned that it was developing Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) chips to be certified by the Alliance as soon as possible and that the chips would be installed in PC products such as notebooks in 2024 and become mainstream in 2025.
Compared to the Wi-Fi 6 network speed of up to 9.6Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 easily exceeds the limit of 30Gbps, and the actual speed can reach about 5.8Gbps, and the current demonstration has exceeded 5Gbps.
