WhatsApp is rolling out shareable call links

0

Links to video calls are common in apps like Zoom or Google Meet, and now the popular chat app WhatsApp has introduced the feature so you can share call links with family and friends. Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature today, noting that users can now join WhatsApp calls through this link, completing all the actions with just one click.

He also mentioned that the company is now testing encrypted video calling for 32 people. The company first announced the expanded group calling feature back in April, but now it appears to be rolling it out for a limited group of users.

Users can find the option to create a video link under the Calls tab. Once a link is created, they can share it with friends and family to join a video call.

The call link feature will be rolled out to all users this week, so you’ll need to keep an eye out for WhatsApp app updates, but it’s also unclear what happens when someone without a WhatsApp account opens the link.

Last month, Meta began testing WhatsApp’s Communities feature, which lets administrators create a community with multiple user groups – think of it as a Slack account for an organization with different channels.
