Reuters recently reported that Volvo Cars is preparing to launch an “electrification blitz” by converting all of its major models to electric vehicles, including three SUVs and two sedans, and launching a luxury electric van designed to boost sales in Asia. Volvo expects to launch at least six new all-electric vehicles by 2026. Volvo aims to go fully electric by 2030, and its Australian subsidiary says it plans to sell only electric cars in that market by 2026.

At CES 2023, the new all-electric flagship SUV, the Volvo EX90, was unveiled, and the new car was shown at the Luminar and Google booths, respectively. It is expected to go on sale in early 2024.

The Volvo EX90 is equipped with Luminar Lidar technology, with a maximum detection distance of 600 meters, and a detection distance of 250 meters under 10% reflectivity conditions, and can even see tires 120 meters away.

The Volvo EX90 car system uses the Google native Android system. Volvo Cars also released a joint technology with Google (Google HD Maps), and Volvo Car Group became the first car company to carry Google HD Maps.
