Mercedes-Benz announced the integration of ChatGPT in June last year, and Volkswagen is the latest to announce it. Volkswagen announced today at CES 2024 that its existing IDA voice assistant will introduce ChatGPT artificial intelligence technology and be used in a series of new models.

Volkswagen says ChatGPT will be enabled in select models equipped with the latest generation of infotainment systems: ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3, the new Volkswagen Tiguan, the new Passat and the new Golf.

Volkswagen pointed out that its in-car assistant can now perform operations such as controlling infotainment systems, navigation and more. By adding ChatGPT, Volkswagen will support interaction in a more intuitive and interactive language. Officials also specifically mentioned functions such as “enriching conversations, solving problems, interacting in intuitive language, and receiving vehicle-specific information.”

It is learned from Volkswagen’s official announcement that ChatGPT integration will be launched in the second quarter of 2024. The company revealed that the new feature is currently only “under consideration” for launch in the US market.
