US phone sales rankings in October: Apple dominates the list

Market research organization Counterpoint recently announced the ranking of the best-selling smartphones in the United States in October, which includes both expected strong frontrunners and surprising dark horse players.

First of all, without any suspense, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, equipped with the latest A17 Pro chip and titanium alloy body, firmly ranks first with a market share of 24%. Followed by iPhone 15 Pro (16%) and iPhone 15 (13%), occupying the top three positions.

Surprisingly, the iPhone 15 Plus, which has a larger 6.7-inch screen, did not appear in the top four. It was replaced by the iPhone 14 released last year, which had a market share of 4% in October. Analysts believe that many consumers who originally planned to buy the iPhone 15 Plus were attracted by the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 5x optical zoom, more powerful processor and better battery life, and ultimately chose to upgrade to a higher-end model.

It is noticed that what is even more surprising is the fifth player. It is neither Samsung’s 2023 flagship Galaxy S23 series (which has lost popularity a few months after its release), nor the Pixel 8 Pro, which has been on the market for less than three weeks. Not to mention the Galaxy Z series of foldable phones, which still have low market penetration. Instead, it’s a mid-range model from Samsung, the Galaxy A14 5G, which had a market share of 3% in October. The phone, released earlier this year, features a 6.6-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage, and supports up to 1TB MicroSD card expansion storage. Galaxy A14 5G uses a triple rear camera combination, with a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth lens. The front camera is 13MP. The 5000mAh battery is paired with 15W fast charging and has excellent battery life. The Galaxy A14 5G can even be purchased for as low as $79.88 when paired with the StraightTalk plan at Walmart, and it’s only $199.99 on Samsung’s official website.
