Ubuntu 23.04 Beta release: desktop environment upgraded to GNOME 44

Canonical has released Ubuntu 23.04 Beta today, and the stable version is expected to be released on April 20.

Ubuntu 23.04 Beta desktop environment has been upgraded to the recently released GNOME 44 with an optimized Ubuntu Font, and the kernel has been upgraded to the Linux 6.2 branch, which supports most major hardware.

Ubuntu Desktop also introduces a new installer written using Google’s Flutter UI SDK, which implements most of the features of the previous Ubuntu installer, except that it does not support ZFS installations.

If users want to install Ubuntu 23.04 with ZFS, Canonical also provides an official ISO image with the old installer, Ubuntu 23.4 has also released two additional ISO images, Ubuntu Unity and Ubuntu Cinnamon.
