U.S. carrier T-Mobile announces acquisition of Deadpool’s Mint phone brand

U.S. telecommunications carrier T-Mobile has announced the acquisition of the Mint Mobile phone brand, an affordable smartphone brand promoted and backed by “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds also invited T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert to create a promotional video to inform customers of the upcoming acquisition.

T-Mobile is spending $1.35 billion (including 39 percent in cash and 61 percent in stock) to acquire Ka’ena Corporation, the parent company of Mint Mobile, Ultra Mobile and Plum. the final purchase price will be determined when the deal closes later this year.

T-Mobile is acquiring Mint Mobile’s sales, marketing, digital and services businesses and said it will leverage T-Mobile’s vendor relationships and distribution scale to help Mint Mobile grow.
