Two unreleased Apple Mac computers appear in the Steam database

In recent weeks, several unreleased Mac computers have surfaced on Geekbench score sites. Now, another pair of unreleased Macs has surfaced in another database: the November Steam Hardware and Software Survey. Apple is widely expected to release an updated MacBook Pro and Mac Studio in early 2023.

November’s data is very special because it includes two unreleased Macs.

According to MacRumors, two unreleased Macs, identified as “Mac14,6” and “Mac15,4,” were included in November’s survey. These Macs are listed as having a usage rate of “0.00 percent,” meaning they are not widely used, and their presence in the database suggests that a very small number of Apple engineers may be using Steam software to test the gaming performance of these Mac computers.

The “Mac14,6” has been spotted a couple of times recently in Geekbench results, and it is believed to have an M2 Max chip, with a single-core score of 2027 and a multi-core score of 14,888 in one of those tests.

Other than this Steam data, the “Mac15,4” model is not seen anywhere else. This is likely to refer to another unreleased M2-powered Mac, such as the new Mac Studio or a different MacBook model.

Apple is rumored to be planning several new Macs for 2023, including a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, a Mac Studio, and the long-awaited Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, and reports that the new Mac mini will have an M2 chip.

The M2 Max chip is most likely to power the high-end version of the new MacBook Pro and the entry-level Mac Studio model, and the entry-level MacBook Pro model may feature the M2 Pro chip.
