Twitter to launch paid authentication service on Friday, limited to Apple iOS apps

Reportedly, people familiar with the matter said that Twitter’s Blue Blue V certification service plans to launch this Friday, but is limited to the Apple iOS side of the application.

Twitter will also update its Android app at a later date, according to people familiar with the matter, as it plans to launch the paid service by updating its iOS app and therefore needs to complete the standard app review process to get Apple’s approval.

In a series of posts this week, Elon Musk, Twitter’s new boss, accused Apple of threatening to block Twitter’s access to the App Store app store without saying why. Elon Musk also said Apple had stopped placing ads on the Twitter platform.

Elon Musk said that Apple is pressuring Twitter about content review requirements.
