TrendForce says Apple will launch Micro LED panel Apple Watch in 2026

TrendForce released a report yesterday, indicating that driven by large TVs/screens and wearable devices, the output value of Micro LED chips will reach 27 million US dollars this year, a year-on-year increase of 92%.

TrendForce also indicated that with the expansion of existing application shipments and the continuous addition of new applications, it is estimated that the output value of Micro LED chips will be about 580 million US dollars in 2027, and the compound growth rate (CAGR) from 2022 to 2027 will be about 136%.

TV:

 Samsung: In addition to launching an 89-inch 4K TV this year, the official announcement continues to expand the Micro LED product lineup to launch 101-inch and 114-inch.

 LG: The 136-inch 4K product uses a larger 22.3-inch backplane, coupled with a smaller and more economical 16x27µm chip, and is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2023.

 BOE: In the second quarter of this year, the P0.9 active drive display has been successfully launched, and the P0.51 active drive display is planned to be launched in the fourth quarter, and a one-stop solution (Turnkey Solution) will be launched in 2024.

Wearable Aspect

 AUO: Mass-produced the world's first 1.39-inch Micro LED watch panel. In addition to first supplying to Tag Heuer, a European luxury watch manufacturer, it also supplies to major professional sports wear device manufacturers and Japanese watch brands.

 Apple: Although the launch of Apple Watch 2.12-inch products has been postponed from 2025 to 2026 due to the re-planning of the production chain, the work related to mass production of Micro LED has already started, and there will be opportunities to introduce its head-mounted devices and mobile phones in the future , Automotive market applications.

Due to the long verification time of the automotive industry, the actual mass production of Micro LED displays for vehicles will have to wait until after 2026.
