TrendForce: OLED phone penetration rate is increasing year by year, expected to reach 50.8% in 2023

TrendForce Tiburon Consulting today released a report, with OLED panels in phone applications gradually increasing, is expected to use OLED panels in 2022 phone penetration rate of about 47.7%, to 2023 will reach 50.8%, 2026 is expected to exceed 60%.

According to the report, in 2020 Apple launched a full series of iPhone 12 new models began to use OLED panels, driven by other phone brands that have begun to expand the introduction of OLED panels in high-end models. Apple’s phone-only SE series is still stuck in LCD panels, and the main series of phones have adopted OLED panels; Samsung phones OLED panel use also more than half; Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo phones have 3-4 models using OLED panels, and in additional to the transonic focus on the African market under the main low-cost phone strategy, the proportion of OLED panel import is low, other brands are planning to expand the adoption.

TrendForce estimates that sales of folding phones using OLED panels will reach 12.8 million units in 2022, with a penetration rate of about 1.1%. Under the trend of major brands regularly launching new upgraded models every year, sales of folding phones are expected to reach 18.5 million units in 2023, with a penetration rate of about 1.5%. In addition, the report said OLED panels are expected to continue to gradually increase in phone applications in 2023.
