TrendForce: Global TV panel shipments are expected to reach 264 million units in 2023

TrendForce released a report today saying that global TV panel shipments are expected to reach 264 million units in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%.

In terms of OLED, after Korean panel manufacturers fade out of the LCD market in 2022, they will all focus on OLED, and more products will be released one after another. The diversification of products will help the shipments to a certain extent. At the same time, Samsung Electronics is currently positive about the QD OLED TV panels provided by Samsung Display. It is estimated that QD OLED TV panel shipments in 2023 are expected to increase by 26.5% year-on-year. %, which also boosted the overall shipment penetration rate of OLED panels in the TV panel field to increase slightly to 3.1%.

In terms of LCD, the LCD TV panel market is mature and has a large supply, and it has been relatively severely impacted by the economy. TrendForce predicts that LCD TV panel shipments will decline by 3.1% year-on-year in 2023, reaching 256 million units.

The report pointed out that panel factories in mainland China are expected to further expand the market share of LCD TV panels to 70.4% in 2023. Among them, BOE, China Star Optoelectronics and Huike will still be the top three LCD TV panel shipments in 2023. As for panel makers in Taiwan, Innolux is expected to have a market share of about 14.1% in 2023, benefiting from the transfer of orders brought by CEC Panda; due to the increase in orders from major customers, AUO’s market share will slightly increase to 5.2%.

In addition, the report predicts that LG Display’s LCD TV panel market share will decline to 4.6% in 2023; Sharp’s estimated market share will reach 5.7%.
