According to the automotive media carscoops, Toyota is currently carefully developing the next generation sports car and is expected to display the 2026 sixth-generation GR Supra in 2025, which will use BMW’s ICE and EV platforms.

Best Car broke the news earlier this year that the Toyota Supra Mk6 would go the all-electric route, but the latest rumors suggest otherwise.

carscoops broke the news that Toyota plans to launch a fuel (ICE) version of the Supra in 2025 and a hybrid version in 2026.

While there’s no official confirmation, it’s believed the next-generation Supra’s internal combustion powertrain may be based on the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six currently sourced from BMW.

It is learned from reports that Toyota may adopt electrification such as mild hybrid, full hybrid, or even plug-in hybrid technology. The BMW XM platform is already equipped with a PHEV powertrain, and the upcoming M5 may adopt a similar setup.
