Toyota Introduces FT-Se Concept Electric Sports Car, Production After 2026

In the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota launched a high-performance pure electric sports car FT-Se, the model will be released in 2026.

On the outside, the Toyota FT-Se features the Gazoo Racing logo and a wide-bodied, low-slung dynamic body shape that is often seen on sports cars, hinting at the car’s handling stability and aerodynamic performance.

Toyota says the FT-Se is a “sexy rear-wheel-drive sports car” that fits in with Toyota’s next-generation electric vehicle manufacturing strategy, and it says the FT-Se will share major components with other concept cars.

The official claim is that the FT-Se’s cockpit comprehensively with “screen” to replace the physical buttons, the yoke steering wheel has a small screen for displaying the speed, and the steering wheel left and right also has a touch screen, mainly used for controlling the vehicle’s sports mode.

The concept’s name also showcases Toyota’s new nomenclature for its next generation of electric vehicles.

Toyota’s current lineup of electric vehicles is based on the e-TNGA platform, which is represented by bZ, such as the bZ4X crossover and the bZ3 sedan; the concept’s FT stands for Future Toyota, and the “e” can mean “electric,” while the “Se” refers to “electric. Se” means “pure electric sport”.
