In an emailed statement, TKM said it was “notified by one of the company’s service providers that some of its customer’s personal information may have been compromised on the Internet.” The statement did not disclose the size of the data breach or the number of customers affected.

This is not the first time Toyota has leaked user information. in October 2022, Toyota officials said that the personal information of about 296,000 customers who use its T-connect service may have been compromised, including email addresses and customer numbers, and that users may receive spam, phishing emails, etc., but other sensitive information such as names, phone numbers and credit card information were not affected. Subsequently, Toyota sent an electronic apology email to affected customers for the incident and also set up a web form where customers can check whether their email addresses are in the range of those that may have been compromised. Toyota also set up a dedicated call center to answer customer questions related to the information breach.
