According to the Japan Broadcasting Association, Toyota Motor Company applied to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to recall its Prius series cars.

The recall covers more than 135,000 Toyota Prius vehicles built between November 2022 and this month.

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism stated that the switch on the outer rear door of the car has insufficient waterproof performance. If a large amount of water is flushed, it may cause a short circuit of internal parts and even cause the door to suddenly open while driving.

So far, there have been three reports of doors opening while driving at low speeds, but no accidents have occurred.

Toyota will adopt temporary store closure measures at dealers across the country and replace parts for free as soon as they are ready.

IT House learned that the Toyota Prius was launched in December 1997 and was equipped with dual-engine power. This model It was sold to more than 40 countries and regions around the world in 2001. Its largest markets are Japan and North America. It has currently launched multiple iterative versions.
