To make way for Pixel 8a, Google removes Pixel 6a phone from official store

The Google Store recently removed the Pixel 6a product page, hinting to make way for the upcoming Pixel 8a product.

The Google Play Store has removed the product page for Pixel 6a. Even if users visit the previous link, they will jump to the Pixel 7a phone page.

Currently in the United States, consumers can still purchase Pixel 6a phones through third-party platforms such as Amazon and Best Buy, and the prices are relatively affordable.

Regarding the removal of the Pixel 6a product page from Google’s official website, many foreign media speculated that it was to prepare for the upcoming Pixel 8a phone, which is expected to be released at the I/O Developers Conference on May 14 this year.

Relevant breaking information as follows:

Pixel 8a will continue the 6.1-inch screen size and resolution of the previous generation Pixel 7a. Android Authority believes that the refresh rate will be increased to 120Hz instead of maintaining 90Hz as previously rumored.

The HDR brightness of the display will be increased to 1,400 nits, which is in line with the standard version of the Pixel 8. At the same time, the screen corner radius of Pixel 8a will reach 128 pixels, which is significantly rounder than Pixel 7a.

In addition, Pixel 8a will also support the same USB Type-C DP Alt mode as the flagship model, which can output images through the DP connection.

In terms of camera, Pixel 8a will continue to use the camera combination on Pixel 7a, namely Sony IMX787 main camera, Sony IMX712 ultra-wide-angle camera and Sony IMX712 front lens.

The downclocked Tensor G3 processor used in Pixel 8a will use the same IPoP package used in Pixel 7a. Compared with the FOPLP used in the standard version, the IPoP package can save costs, but will make certain compromises in thickness and heat generation.
