TikTok CEO Zhou Shouzhi said before attending a hearing of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee this Thursday that the app has 150 million monthly active users in the U.S., up from the 100 million announced for 2020.
The news shows that TikTok’s audience in the United States is mainly focused on young people. According to a previous report, the average time spent by young people in the US on TikTok is already more than 50 minutes a day, second only to streaming giant Netflix.
It is worth mentioning that the short video platform is recently caught in the middle of data security issues. TikTok says it has invested more than $1.5 billion in data security efforts to strengthen its own data protection.
