The British Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stated that it is investigating Qualcomm’s acquisition of the Israeli company Autotalks to confirm whether this acquisition will harm competition in the British market.

It was reported in May this year that Qualcomm hopes to deepen its automotive business by acquiring Autotalks and accelerating the adoption timeline of V2X technology to strengthen the Snapdragon Digital Chassis product portfolio.

Autotalks currently produces specialized chips for autonomous driving and is used in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technology for smart cars, aiming to improve road safety.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) launched an in-depth investigation into “chipmaker Qualcomm’s acquisition of Israeli automotive chipmaker Autotalks” in August this year.

In order to dispel potential concerns about the deal, when Qualcomm announced the acquisition of Autotalks, it emphasized that the deal was supported by automakers and parts manufacturers, including Volkswagen, General Motors, Renault, Continental, and Samsung. of Harman International. However, the deal was also opposed by anonymous complainants, and foreign media said that one of the complainants was chip manufacturer MediaTek.
