According to Teslarati, Tesla is offering a $3,000 discount or three years of free supercharging for existing owners who buy a new Model S / X model through a trade-in in the United States. The promotion is called the “Owner Loyalty Offer” and Tesla has confirmed that the Model 3 / Y is not included in the promotion.

Tesla is kicking off 2023 with a significant price cut on its models, which, combined with U.S. government incentives, could save up to about $20,000 on vehicles. Now Tesla is taking it a step further, as the company is reaching out to some current owners to try to entice them to buy a new car with a $3,000 discount or three years of free supercharging if they trade in the Tesla they’re driving.

Several owners who have recently approached Tesla about buying a new car through trade-in value requests or test drives have received follow-up calls from members of the owner loyalty team offering discounts or free supercharging.

These discounts are being offered on top of the recent price reduction, with a Tesla representative saying in an email to customers, “Simply place your order as soon as possible and choose between a $3,000 credit on a new Tesla or 3 years of free Supercharging miles (whichever you prefer) towards your trade-in.” The policy is set to expire in February, but Tesla did not specify an exact date.

Tesla delivered more than 1.3 million cars last year, but fell short of its delivery goal. for 2023, the company aims to deliver 1.8 million, but CEO Elon Musk said the company has the capacity to deliver 2 million this year.
