Tesla started sending out invitations to AI Day, will announce AI latest developments

Tesla has begun sending invitations to select customers and supporters to its annual Artificial Intelligence (AI) Day event scheduled for Sept. 30, 2022, according to foreign media reports.

The company said that at that time, Tesla will unveil its latest advances in AI, which include fully automated driving (FSD), humanoid robots, AI training Dojo D1 chips and more. In addition to sharing new advances in AI, Tesla typically uses the event to attract new engineering talent to work for the company.

So far, Tesla’s FSD system has been in testing for nearly two years. Currently, the system has more than 100,000 testers. By refining its FSD beta, Tesla hopes to gradually approach Level 5 autonomous driving.

Earlier this September, Tesla officially increased the price of the FSD system in North America from $12,000 to $15,000, a 25 percent increase.

Tesla’s humanoid robot reportedly made its debut at the Tesla AI Day event in August 2021, and it will also appear at the Tesla AI Day event on Sept. 30 this year.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the robot is close to the height and weight of an adult, can carry or hand-carry heavy objects, can also walk in small steps, and that the screen on its face is an interactive interface for communication with people. The robot is initially positioned to replace people in repetitive, boring, dangerous work, but the vision is to make it serve thousands of households, such as cooking, mowing the lawn, and caring for the elderly.

Elon Musk is reportedly working on plans to deploy thousands of humanoid robots in his Texas super factory and eventually millions more around the world.

At last year’s AI Day event, Tesla unveiled its latest AI training chip, the Dojo D1, which is built on TSMC’s 7nm process and integrates up to 50 billion transistors, half the size of Intel’s Ponte Vecchio computing chip.
