Tesla’s super factory in Shanghai, although Phase I and Phase II have long been in operation, the electric cars produced, while supplying domestic users, are also being exported in large quantities, and have become an important export base for Tesla, but they are still optimizing and upgrading the production line of this factory, in order to increase production.
The latest reports from foreign media show that Tesla has recently completed a production line optimization at its Shanghai mega-factory, and the optimized production line will be commissioned from September 19 until November 30.
From the information released by Shanghai’s ecological environment service platform for enterprises and institutions, Tesla recently completed the second phase of the plant’s production line optimization project, which began construction on December 21 last year and was completed on September 19, that is, this Monday, lasting nearly nine months.
From the order of completion and operation, the first phase of the production line optimization and upgrade of Tesla’s Shanghai Super Factory, which is the plant for the production of Model 3, officially started construction on January 7, 2019, and after nearly 10 months of construction, it was ready for production and was approved for mass production of Model 3 in November of that year.
After the production line optimization and upgrade, the production efficiency will be higher, and the output of the first phase of Tesla’s Shanghai Super Factory is expected to be improved.
Foreign media mentioned in the report that Tesla is pushing to increase the daily production of Model 3 and Model Y in Shanghai Super Factory, to 2,200 units.
Among the vehicle factories Tesla has put into production so far, the Shanghai Super Factory is already the highest capacity factory. Tesla disclosed in its second-quarter earnings report released on July 20 that the Shanghai mega-factory has an annual capacity of more than 750,000 units, higher than the 650,000 units at the Fremont, California plant.
