As production continues to ramp up at the Shanghai SuperFab and Fremont, California plants, and as production continues to ramp up at the Berlin and Texas SuperFabs as they come online, Tesla Model Y production is also up significantly, with stronger delivery capabilities.

According to statistics agency JATO Dynamics, Tesla Model Y sold 747,000 units worldwide last year, a 91% jump year-over-year, making it the third-highest-selling model.

From the agency’s data, the two cars that sold more than Tesla Model Y worldwide last year, both from Toyota, were the RAV4 RWD and the Corolla sedan, with the former selling 1.016 million units, the only model that sold more than one million units last year, and the latter selling 992,000 units, both of which saw a 10 percent decline in sales year-over-year.

Considering that the Model Y is Tesla’s best-selling model and production is still rising, sales will increase in the coming period and will be even higher this year, and if last year’s year-over-year growth rate is maintained, it will exceed one million this year.

The Model Y is also a model that Tesla has high hopes for, and Musk has previously said that he believes the Model Y has the potential to become the world’s best-selling car. Although it did not achieve that goal last year, the 91 percent year-over-year increase in sales and its jump to third place worldwide is a huge step forward and a step closer to becoming the best-selling model.
