Tesla Model 3 high-performance version spy photos exposed again

The highly anticipated new Tesla Model 3 high-performance version was exposed again, this time on a trailer.

This photo of the Model 3 High-Performance Edition was shared on Reddit by a netizen, with the rear bumper covered in camouflage film. Just less than a week ago, an uncamouflaged version of the Model 3 High Performance was spotted in Spain, complete with a “Ludicrous” logo underneath the rear license plate. However, in this latest photo, the logo cannot be seen due to the camera angle and the obstruction of the rear bumper.

It’s unclear where in the U.S. the vehicle was spotted, but it’s worth noting that the upgraded Model 3 Performance version has a sticker with the letters “EU” on the rear side window.

This discovery also confirms many people’s previous speculation that Tesla is developing a high-performance version of the Model 3, which may be named “Ludicrous” or “Plaid” like some previous models. There is also controversy over where the new model will be produced, with some believing it may be produced at Tesla’s Fremont, California, factory, which is currently ramping up production of the upgraded Model 3.

It is noticed that in recent months, a number of engineering test vehicles suspected to be high-performance versions of Model 3 have been discovered in the United States and other places, including the vehicle discovered in Santa Monica, California last month.

These recent findings also come on the heels of Tesla’s launch of an updated Model 3 in North America in January and the launch of a facelifted sedan in multiple markets in the second half of 2023. So far, Tesla has only launched two configurations, namely a rear-wheel drive version and a long-range dual-motor all-wheel drive version.

Martin Viecha, Tesla’s director of investor relations, confirmed last month that a Model 3 high-performance version was coming soon, after the configuration was already listed in Tesla’s Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) last year and some European documents. There is a hint in it. Separate reports indicate that Tesla will launch a high-performance version of the Model 3 in China and Australia.
