Tesla EVs dazzle Hollywood, Model S has the highest appearance rate

Despite the lack of traditional advertising and brand endorsements, a study from the British car market Auto Trader showed that Tesla’s electric cars have become the most popular electric cars in Hollywood.

Auto Trader UK’s research analyzed the electric cars that have appeared most frequently in movies, TV shows and music videos, with Tesla’s models dominating almost all of Hollywood’s EV shots.

Tesla’s flagship Model S sedan topped all electric vehicles in the study with 419 appearances. The Model 3 is the second most popular Tesla model in Hollywood, with 167 appearances. The Model Tesla’s first model, the original Roadster, was featured 46 times.

Auto Trader’s research not only analyzed the number of times electric cars have been featured in Hollywood, but also assessed how long they were featured. The original Roadster comes out on top in this regard, with 37% of its screen time being significant. In comparison, only 24% of the Model S, 26% of the Model X, 18% of the Model Y, and only 8% of the Model 3’s screen time were longer.

Auto Trader editorial director Erin Baker noted, “What we see on the screen has a huge impact on our lifestyle choices and even our major purchasing decisions,” Baker said. “This applies especially to cars, where the content on the screen is Spotlights can make a car look sleeker and more attractive than ever before.

It is noted that it’s not just Tesla that’s attracted Hollywood’s attention. Among the electric cars analyzed by Auto Trader, the Nissan Leaf also stood out, second only to the Model S, with 194 appearances, 19% of which were seen for a longer period of time. Additionally, the Honda e only made 14 appearances, but 43% of them had significant screen time. The same goes for the Audi e-tron Sportback, which has 12 appearances, 42% of which have longer screen time.
