A prototype Tesla Cybertruck has been spotted on a public road in Palo Alto, California, with a new exterior mirror design.

The Cybertruck is nearing the early production stage, and according to Tesla’s chief vehicle designer Franz von Holzhausen, the automaker has finalized the vehicle’s design.

Judging from the images, the Tesla Cybertruck prototype appears to feature a new exterior mirror design in a triangular shape to fit the vehicle’s very futuristic exterior design.

In response, Elon Musk said that the Cybertruck is still undergoing more minor optimizations, but the current version is very close to final production and this mirror can be removed by the owner.

Previous Cybertrucks were equipped with more traditional rectangular exterior mirrors, or in some cases, no exterior mirrors at all.

According to Tesla’s chief vehicle designer, the car’s design has been finalized and the production version of the Cybertruck is expected to feature triangular exterior mirrors.

Elon Musk said during a recent Q4 2022 earnings call that production of the Cybertruck is scheduled to start this summer, with mass production set to begin sometime in 2024.
