According to Electrek, people familiar with the matter have revealed that Tesla China President Zhu Xiaotong has taken over sales, service, and delivery in North America.

Last month, news broke that Tesla CEO Elon Musk had arranged for Zhu to help run the company’s newest factory in Austin, Texas. Before that, Zhu had overseen the construction of Tesla’s Shanghai super factory.

Electrek notes that Zhu is beginning a broader role in the U.S., overseeing sales, distribution and service in North America. For now, Zhu’s official title remains vice president for Asia Pacific, but people familiar with the matter say Zhu has now been added to the North American sales, service and delivery organizational chart.

Troy Jones, Tesla’s vice president of North American sales and service, has been head of North American sales for several years, reporting directly to Elon Musk, who now reports directly to Zhu, the report said.

Business information shows that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. previously underwent a business change, with Zhu Xiaotong stepping down as legal representative and Wang Hao taking over. The company was founded in 2018 with a registered capital of 4.67 billion yuan and is wholly owned by Tesla Motors Hong Kong Ltd. Currently, Zhu Xiaotong is still the chairman of the company.

According to public information, Zhu joined Tesla Motors in April 2014 as director of Tesla China’s Supercharger program, and in December 2014, Tesla’s global vice president and president of China, Winston Wu, left the company and was replaced by Supercharger program director Zhu Xiaotong. During her tenure as President of China, Zhu led the localization of a number of Tesla products in China, including the opening of the Experience Center, the dissemination of new vehicles in China and the construction of the Tesla SuperFactory in Shanghai.
