Tesla China Model 3 / Y pushes 2023.20.9 system version: fixes security vulnerabilities

Tesla announced today that it has pushed the 2023.20.9 version of the software for Model 3 / Y domestic models. According to the official update instructions, there are only four changes in this version:

  • Repair of network security vulnerabilities: potential risk of gateway buffer overflow, potential risk of car-machine release and re-reference, potential risk of car-machine buffer overflow and out-of-bounds reading and writing.
  • Vehicle support to view the mileage driven since the last tire repair.
  • The large text feature now works for all supported languages.
  • The Pinyin keyboard now offers an extended dictionary and other improvements.

According to Tesla’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in the second quarter of 2023, the company’s revenue in the Chinese market will be US$5.731 billion, a year-on-year increase of 51.33%.

From a global perspective, Tesla’s revenue in the second quarter of this year was US$24.927 billion, a year-on-year increase of 47%. The Chinese market revenue accounted for 22.99%.

Although Tesla did not disclose the sales performance of the market segments. However, the data of the Passenger Federation that Tesla China’s retail sales in the Chinese market from January to June this year totalled 294,100 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 48.9%, and its share in the new energy vehicle market reached 9.5%.
