Reuters published a column a few days ago, disclosing the problem of Tesla’s car’s false mileage. It can still travel 15 miles (Note: about 24.14 kilometers).

According to a person familiar with the matter, Tesla vehicles have a safety buffer, and the range is pre-programmed to drive an average of 15 miles after the dashboard is depleted.

Electric vehicle tester Bjorn Nyland tested on a Model 3 car, even with a battery reading of zero, the Model 3 can still travel 35 miles (about 56.33 kilometers).

LFP battery packs require certain procedures to calibrate and correctly reflect range, and Tesla recommends charging them to 100% at least once a week to avoid erratic remaining capacity reports.
