Sony PS5 game console today pushed the firmware 23.02-08.20.02 update, from the last firmware update only less than half a month.

Sony briefly described that firmware 23.02-08.20.02 mainly “improved system performance”, the size of 851.3MB. and the last 23.02-08-20.00 system update mainly improved the control center music function and PS VR 2 experience.

However, considering that the last firmware update was 23.02-08-20.00, which is basically the same version number as this update, it’s likely that Sony has released this update to fix a critical system vulnerability in order to prevent it from being cracked.

▲ Sony previously pushed out the 23.02-08-20.00 system update.

Sony is canceling its PS5 and PS4 consoles in the “share to the X platform” function, users will soon not be able to directly in the relevant game consoles in a key to share game screenshots, recording to the X platform.

Sony’s official website and console announcement states, “After November 13, 2023, the integration of the PS5 and PS4 consoles with the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) will ‘no longer work,’ and users will not be able to view any content from the X platform directly from the PS5 and PS4 platforms, nor will they be able to view any content from the X platform directly from the PS5 and PS4 platforms, or from the PS5 and PS4 consoles. Users will then not be able to view any content on the X platform directly from the PS5 and PS4 platforms, nor will they be able to share screenshots and trophies from the PS5 and PS4 platforms to the X platform with a single click.”

Sony did not specify why it will cancel the integration of PS5 and PS4 consoles with the X platform, but foreign media The Verge believes that it may be because Musk’s new policy requires Sony to pay more API fees to the X platform.

Sony also said that users can still use the PlayStation App to quickly get the player’s game screenshots and recordings, and manually share them on social media platforms.

In addition to Sony, it is found that Microsoft as early as April this year, has removed the Xbox “a key to share to the X platform” option, following Microsoft Sony, Nintendo may also in recent days in the Switch platform to give up the relevant functions.

The source @phantompainss recently shared a set of hands-on pictures of the PS5 Slim and showed photos comparing it with the PS5 console.

Judging from the exposed pictures, the PS5 Slim has a smaller footprint and is not only slimmer than the standard PS5 but also several inches shorter. While the overall size is smaller, the same ports remain on the back, including an HDMI port, two USB ports, a power connector, and an Ethernet port.

The images also appear to confirm rumours that the PS5’s removable optical drive will require an internet connection during the setup process. One of the photos shows a notification that says “Your optical drive is unavailable. You need to connect your PS5 to a network to register the optical drive.”

The new PS5 has reduced its volume by more than 30% and its weight by 18% and 24%, and there is a raised part on the side of the new PS5 for housing the optical drive, which you can remove and replace with a side panel.

When sharing the photo, he also wrote: “Although it is still being set up, the new Slim version is very quiet.” He said that during the setup process, the new machine performed very quietly, which is undoubtedly gratifying news, especially for those players who value the gaming experience.

Sony finally launched the long-revealed detachable optical drive version of the PS5 console. The machine is equipped with 1TB of internal storage and will be available in November. The pricing for each version is as follows:

USA:

  • UHD Blu-ray Disc Drive Version PS5 – $499.99 (currently about RMB 3645)

According to the tipster Zuby_Tech said on the 26th of this month, Sony’s new version of the PlayStation 5 consoles (CFI-1300 series) will be equipped with improved 5 nm APU, the process can afford the demand for heat dissipation, so the tipster expects that the new PlayStation5 consoles will not will be equipped with liquid metal cooling system.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 console initial model (CFI-1200) was built on a 7nm process, while the 2022 CFI-1202 model has a 6nm process. According to Zuby_Tech, 5nm will be the end of the line for Sony’s PlayStation 5 console process, with the new CFI-1300 model powered by the APU set to go on sale at the end of this year.

The source specifically said that Sony abandoned the liquid metal cooling system because the use of 5-nanometer process APU is able to provide higher efficiency and lower levels of heat, while the liquid metal cooling system is more costly, the abolition of the relevant hardware is conducive to reducing the cost of the game machine itself.

Previously, it was reported that Sony plans to adjust the price of PlayStation 5, and provides a series of discount measures to attract players to buy. The source believes that Sony’s behavior is likely to pave the way for the new PlayStation 5 console, but he also said that this 5-nanometer process CFI-1300 model is not the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro, but only a small modification of the current CFI-1202 model.
