Sony Group’s gaming division said Thursday that sales of its PlayStation 5 console have exceeded 40 million units. The company said supply chain problems have been eased, allowing inventory to meet market demand.
In a blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan wrote: “It took months for the supply chain to return to normal so that we could have enough inventory to meet demand. Now that the PS5 is in ample supply, we’re seeing previously pent-up demand finally being met.”
Sony also expects to sell 25 million PS5 consoles this year, which would be an all-time high for PlayStation devices.
