About to enter the fourth quarter of 2023, flagship models from various manufacturers such as Xiaomi 14 series, Samsung Galaxy S24 and iQOO 12 may be unveiled during this time period. For Android flagship phones, the GPU performance of the mobile SoC is inseparable from the gaming experience. Recently, the Geekbench 6 Vulkan running score of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor leaked out, and the score performance is very impressive.

Previously, the user “Revegnus” on the chip scored 15,434 points, an improvement of about 50% from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s score of about 9,000-10,000 points. It seems that the Qualcomm camp’s Android mobile phone game performance will continue to lead the iPhone next year.

Judging from the SoC architecture information, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. 1+3+2+2 eight-core design: one Arm Cortex-X4 super core with a main frequency of 3.30GH, three Cortex-A720 large cores with a main frequency of 3.15GH, and two Cortex-A720 cores with a main frequency of 2.96GHz. A720 large core, 2 Cortex-A520 small cores clocked at 2.27GHz, and the GPU is Adreno 750.

It seems that the mobile phone market next year will still be as crazy as this year. The paper performance of 8Gen 3 is certainly strong, but in many cases, the mobile gaming experience does not only emphasize the peak performance of the GPU. The heat dissipation capacity of the mobile phone, the reading speed of the memory, the display effect of the screen, and system optimization are all factors that can directly affect the gaming experience. So to talk about the real performance of 8Gen 3 mobile phones, we still have to wait until the first models are released before further evaluation.

According to previous news, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor in some areas. Qualcomm has not officially launched this processor, so we don’t know much about it at the moment. But new revelations indicate that this processor will have a huge performance improvement.

According to X user Revegnus, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy scored 7,400 points in Geekbench 6’s multi-core test. This score is amazing, because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor equipped with the Galaxy S23 series has a multi-core score of 4,975 points in Geekbench 6, which means that the multi-core performance of the new processor has been improved by up to 49%.

It is worth mentioning that this score is likely to be the score of an early engineering machine, which means that the score of the new machine may be higher after it is officially launched.

However, its noticed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip has previously appeared in the GeekBench benchmark library, using a 1 super large core + 3 large core + 2 medium core + 2 small core design, with a single-core running score of 2233 The multi-core running score is 6661 points. This score is not consistent with the latest exposed score.

According to previous reports by digital blogger @digital chat station, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 adopts a 1+5+2 design, in which the super-large core is Cortex-X4 with a frequency of up to 3.19GHz, and the large core is 5 Cortex-A720 cores with a frequency of 2.96GHz, the small core is 2 Cortex-A520 cores, the frequency is 2.27GHz, and the GPU is Adreno 750.

Blogger @digitalchatstation broke the news today that Xiaomi Redmi’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 prototypes use a metal middle frame and are equipped with a glass body.

The blogger revealed that the new Redmi flagship phone will be equipped with a stand-free 2K ultra-narrow straight screen, which will make up for the shortcomings of telephoto in terms of imaging but will not be equipped with wireless charging. Regarding the waterproof issue that netizens are concerned about, the blogger said that Redmi’s short-term goal is to popularize IP68 dustproof and waterproof.

In August this year, Redmi launched its first IP68-rated mobile phone – Redmi K60 Extreme Edition. This mobile phone does not have a screen stand, solving two product pain points in one go. If the news is true, the above two configurations are expected to become standard configurations of Redmi’s main models.

▲ Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, source official website

The released Redmi K60 Extreme Edition mobile phone is also equipped with a 6.67-inch 2712×1220 CSOT C7 OLED direct screen on the front, with a local peak brightness of 2600nit, and supports 144Hz refresh rate and 2880Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. In terms of performance, the phone is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ flagship processor and X7 independent graphics chip, with up to 24GB LPDDR5X memory and 1TB UFS 4.0 flash memory.

In addition, the product is also equipped with a 5000mAh battery, 120W fast charging, 50MP Sony IMX800 main camera, X-axis linear motor, NFC, infrared remote control, dual speakers and other configurations.

Nowadays, mobile phones are becoming more and more powerful in photography, with the need for slow motion, portraits, sports video, background bokeh, ultra-wide angle, high zoom, etc, not a problem. So an old and perennial topic arises, when exactly will it catch up or even surpass the DSLR?

In an exchange with the media the other day, Qualcomm Vice President Judd Heape’s view was that AI (artificial intelligence) technology has greatly advanced mobile photography, and that this combination has entered stage three, with three to five years to go before the ultimate, holy grail level of stage four.

External interpretations suggest that the fourth stage will be the moment when mobile photography will overtake DSLRs across the board.

Here’s how the four stages are divided, starting around 2018, AI technology took off in mobile phone photography, but that was only used to identify what was in the picture, such as people, animals, landscapes, etc.; in the second stage, AI started to be used to optimize the 3A, which is autofocus, auto white balance and auto exposure. In the current third stage, AI can already partially understand the elements of the scene and try to fit the needs of the shooter.

The so-called fourth stage is also where AI is involved in the processing of the entire picture.

In fact, earlier this year, Sony executives also believed that within a few years, mobile phone images will surpass DSLRs.

It is worth mentioning that the Qualcomm VP also mentioned that the Snapdragon imaging unit on the phone processes 10 times faster compared to the bulky and outdated kind of cameras from Canon and Nikon, which will allow for more wonderful things to happen, although he also admitted that having a CMOS beyond 1 inch on the phone is not realistic in the short term, I’m afraid.

Introduction

I have been using the Xiaomi 12S Ultra for about one month now, and it is one of the most balanced phones I have used in 2022. It features the latest Qualcomm chipset, Leica optics, and a refreshingly new design.

Let me start by saying, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is a bold statement and reaffirms Xiaomi as a company capable of holding its own in the flagship smartphone space. That’s aside from the fact that Xiaomi is one of the biggest mid-range smartphone brands. This model builds on the reputation of its two previous predecessors but shares a bit more with the Mi 11 Ultra, especially with the outrageous camera bump design.

OnePlus is all set to launch the OnePlus 10T smartphone. The device is hovering around the corners and isn’t too far from getting launched official. Now, the battery specifications of the upcoming OnePlus 10T have been confirmed. In addition, it will have a faster charging rate than the OnePlus 10 Pro, the company’s top-of-the-line model.

OnePlus 10T battery; what’s new?

The brand has officially started teasing some of the key specifications of the OnePlus 10T, in order to create enough hype in the market for the device. As a part of it, the battery details of the OnePlus 10T have been revealed officially by the brand. It will offer a 4800mAh battery, which is 200mAh smaller compared to the 5000mAh battery present on the OnePlus 10 Pro device.

OnePlus 10T

However, when it comes to charging, the 10T will offer a 150W SuperVOOC Endurance Edition charger, which will fuel up the device to 100 per cent in just 19 minutes. For reference, the 65W/80W charger present on the OnePlus 10 Pro takes around 35 minutes to fully charge the battery. This clarifies that even if battery life is a little smaller on the 10T, the charging rate is noticeable faster.

Additionally, the market and surroundings where the device is being charged will have a significant impact on the charging speed. For instance, the device will support fast wired charging up to 125W in North America. The room’s and the device’s ambient temperature will both have a significant impact on how quickly the device charges. The device will charge more quickly when the temperature will be low.
