Foreign technology media Android Authority recently published a blog post in which it tested the camera shutter delay problem of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in detail and found a simple solution.

Rita El Khoury, editor of the media, said that during her recent attendance at the MWC 2024 exhibition, she discovered that there was always a blurry figure in the background when taking photos, resulting in a face, a head, and a bit of hair appearing in the final image, indicating that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone There is a camera lag issue.

Compare the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phones by exchanging the time for taking 20 consecutive photos with the left and right hands, and shoot in three time periods: daytime, afternoon and night with low light.

Across each set of 40 photos, the Galaxy S24 Ultra captured the stopwatch an average of 340 to 360 milliseconds later than the Pixel 8 Pro. The results were also pretty consistent between day and night.

Judging from the results, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is on average a third of a second slower than the Pixel 8 Pro, and sometimes even half a second slower.

A potential solution is for users to install a Good Lock module called Camera Assistant and enable Quick Tap through advanced camera settings.

The comparison before and after opening is as follows:

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has been on the market for some time and the demand is strong. Although its first software update was belatedly arrived, Samsung has pushed out several updates for the model.

Samsung will continue to provide software updates for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, especially for some issues that need to be fixed. One of the problems is related to the camera taking dark photos under certain circumstances. Samsung said the issue will be resolved through a software update.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra has one of the best smartphone cameras on the market. However, under certain settings, the photos taken by the camera can appear darker. Specifically, this occurs when users lock auto-exposure in the camera app and take photos using zooms of 1.6-1.9x and 4.6-9.9x.

Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a fix for this issue and will resolve it through a software update. Users are advised to update their devices to the latest firmware version as soon as updates become available. However, we believe that for most users, this problem should not cause much trouble, and relatively few people will lock automatic exposure while using these specific zoom levels.

Samsung recently issued a press release, focusing on the Galaxy Pro Visual Engine and Quad Tele System in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series phones, and stated that the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera shutter speed 30% faster than S23 Ultra.

This is a very obvious improvement in perception. Samsung said in a press release that including the 200-megapixel rear main camera, it has significantly reduced the shutter lag of the camera.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s sensor size has nearly doubled compared to its predecessor, from 12.52 square millimeters to approximately 24.47 square millimeters, helping the Galaxy S24 Ultra capture details more accurately. It also has larger pixels, measuring 1.4μm on each side at 5x zoom, which is nearly 60% larger. This means the Galaxy S24 Ultra can capture more light, creating brighter images with less noise.

The press release also talks about other improvements to the camera experience, such as a wider optical image stabilization angle for the 5x telephoto lens and the ability to take 24-megapixel photos using the Expert RAW app.

The press release also mentions that faster neural processing units (NPUs) on the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips enhance AI-powered photo and video editing tools.

YouTube channel PBKReviews has previously been on the latest Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra gravel scratch and drop test, the results show that although Corning Gorilla Glass in the anti-scratch performance is excellent, the optical quality is also a great improvement, but its ability to prevent the fall is still worrisome, the display is cracked.

Today, however, we’re more interested in the internals of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Through disassembly, PBKReviews gave the phone a high repairability score of 9 out of 10, which is considered relatively easy to repair. However, it should be noted that you need to be extra careful when removing the screen so that you don’t hurt the cover glass.

It is noted that the most striking two points of this dismantling: one is the motherboard on the large 5 times periscope telephoto lens, compared to the previous generation of S23 Ultra indeed upgrade obvious; two is the flexible AMOLED panel under the heat dissipation system, not only increase the area of the average heat plate, but also added an additional graphite fins, it seems that this time Samsung is the heat dissipation problem is a real attention.

It is worth mentioning that the Galaxy S24 Ultra inherits the modular design of the double-sided motherboard of the S23 Ultra, and the battery is still easy to disassemble, which is a good point. During the disassembly process, PBKReviews also found a millimeter wave antenna hidden on the body, which should be the U.S. version of the model.

In the latest video, the evaluation agency PBKreviews tested the durability of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone, focusing on measuring the performance of the mobile phone in terms of drops and scratches.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra uses Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Armor cover material. Officials say that in Corning laboratories, Gorilla Armor has demonstrated superior durability compared to similar aluminosilicate cover glass.

To measure its superior scratch resistance, Corning created a new lab test, the Auto-Scratch Device, to simulate tiny scratches caused by everyday wear and tear.

In this rigorous test, Gorilla Armor showed no noticeable scratches and was more than four times more scratch-resistant than comparable aluminosilicate cover glass.

While the titanium frame is impressively resistant to scratches, the screen developed a tiny crack after the first time it was dropped face-down from waist height.

The display cracked again after repeated drops, but it still works fine. The fact that the cracks on the display were not serious suggests that the glass edges of the screen are not curved and therefore better protected against drops.

The back of the phone was unscathed, and there were no cracks on the rear panel or camera lens. Note: During the entire test process, it was only dropped once each time, so strictly speaking the test is not scientific enough and is for reference only.

The Samsung Galaxy S series has always been the top flagship of the Android camp, and the Ultra model is the best among them. Today, Samsung brought the new Galaxy S24 Ultra, which not only has a new titanium alloy body, 1440p direct screen, but also is equipped with powerful AI functions. The price has also been increased to US$1,299 (Note: Currently about 9,353 RMB).

First of all, the most noticeable change on the S24 Ultra is a titanium body, similar to Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro, which Samsung says provides better durability. Unlike Apple, Samsung didn’t choose titanium for weight savings, but rather for its superior durability, as titanium is heavier than aluminum. The S24 Ultra weighs almost the same as the S23 Ultra at around 232 grams, making it slightly heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. In terms of color, the new phone is available in titanium yellow, titanium purple, titanium black and titanium gray. As per tradition, Samsung has some additional color versions available exclusively through the Samsung.com store, including titanium orange, titanium green and titanium blue. .

The other big change with the S24 Ultra is the screen. The S24 Ultra is equipped with a 6.8-inch 1440p display, the same as the S23 Ultra, but the new phone finally abandons the curved screen inherited from the Note series and uses a straight screen. Unlike the straight edges of the S24 and S24 Plus, the S24 Ultra’s bezels are still slightly curved, but the chance of accidentally touching the edge of the screen with the S Pen is now much less likely.

There are also some changes to the S24 Ultra’s rear camera. Samsung replaced the S23 Ultra’s 10-megapixel 10x zoom camera with a 50-megapixel 5x zoom camera that enables 10x zoom through lossless crop zoom. Despite no longer being a native focal length, Samsung says the S24 Ultra’s 10x zoom image quality is actually improved over the S23 Ultra. The phone can still achieve 100x zoom, but that still seems to be a mostly gimmicky feature.

The hardware for the other four cameras is unchanged from last year, including a 20-megapixel f/1.7 main camera, a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a front-facing 12-megapixel selfie camera.

AI functionality is a highlight of the S24 Ultra, which integrates almost all AI functionality currently available on flagship phones. The S24 series is equipped with local and cloud-based AI capabilities and runs Google’s Gemini base model. It is worth mentioning that the AI functions of the three new phones are exactly the same.

The S24 series introduces some image and video editing tools powered by generative AI, and Google Bard-like star icons can be seen throughout the UI. Users can circle the subjects in the photo to cut out and resize them, as well as move or remove them directly. You can also adjust the horizon line of your photo and let AI fill in the missing edges of the image, which is useful for taking photos with shaky hands.

In addition to still photos, the S24 Ultra also has a very cool video function, which can convert any video into a 120fps slow-motion video afterwards, no matter what mode, frame rate or even camera you use to shoot it, this function uses AI frame interpolation technology to Make up for lost frames.

Other system features include the new Circle to Search function from Google. Just press and hold the navigation key or the Home button, circle the content you want to search, and Google will help you. The keyboard can also suggest text based on what you’re typing, making your message more relevant to your tone.

In addition, there are real-time call translation, text translation, voice-to-text translation, automatic note formatting and other functions, which can be described as comprehensive.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung plans to bring these AI features to the S23 series phones as well as the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 phones in the future.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, which is available in all sales regions worldwide. The S24 and S24 Plus only use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the US, Canada, China (and possibly Japan), and Exynos chips in other regions, but Samsung says this won’t affect AI capabilities. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has been upgraded to Wi-Fi 7.

Surprisingly, Qi2 wireless charging has been removed from all Galaxy S24 series phones, meaning there is no support for magnetic attachments and accessories like MagSafe. However, Samsung, like Google, promises 7 years of OS upgrades for the S24 series, including 7 years of security updates. While the Ultra is a bit more expensive this year, it should be worth it if you plan on using it for the long haul.

The Samsung S24 Ultra is available for pre-order today and will start shipping on January 31st, starting at $1,299 for the 256GB version.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will use Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips, while the S24 Ultra will only use Snapdragon chips.

In terms of VC heat dissipation, the area of Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra is 1.5, 1.6, and 1.9 times that of the Galaxy S23 series, which can improve heat dissipation in high-load scenarios such as games.

The Galaxy S24 series has improved screen brightness across the board and provides ray tracing capabilities for games such as Night Crow, Racing Master, and Diablo Immortal.

In terms of cameras, the Galaxy S24 Ultra supports recording 8K video at 5x zoom, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 10-megapixel 10x telephoto lens has been adjusted to a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto lens.

In terms of color, the leaked information also includes four colors of the Galaxy S24 series, including amber yellow, marble gray, cobalt purple and onyx black. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is made of titanium, so the first word is replaced with Titanium.
