According to the latest report released today by the screen supply chain consulting company DSCC, the cost of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) is $8 higher than that of low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) (currently about 55 CNY), and the cost of the panel is 10 dollars higher (the current price is about 69 CNY).

LTPS uses laser heating to generate polysilicon, while LTPO increases the oxidation process, so the cost is more expensive. For consumers, the biggest advantage of LTPO is that it supports a dynamic refresh rate, which can be adjusted in the range of 1-120Hz according to the usage scenario.

For specific models, Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S23 Plus use LTPS TFT; while Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro Max and other models use LTPO TFT panels.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the S23+ are now available for hands-on photos from @kmcell_store, and they don’t look too different from the S22 Ultra, except that the bezels are further narrowed.

According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra uses a 200-megapixel main camera and supports up to 8K30P video recording.

Previously, tipsters Ice Universe @i Ice Universe and others have confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 + and Galaxy S23 Ultra will use a custom high-frequency version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage, bringing an enhanced performance that is expected to be reflected in the phone’s boot speed, app and game launches, multitasking and game running.

Here are the Samsung Galaxy S23 series storage configurations.

Galaxy S23: 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB

Galaxy S23+: 8GB+256GB, 8GB+512GB

This is twice the speed of UFS 3.1 storage, which offers sequential read speeds of up to 2100MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1200MB/s.

According to a document viewed by 9to5Google, the customised Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in Samsung Galaxy S23 devices will be called the “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”. The chip will have a CPU frequency of up to 3.36GHz, while Qualcomm’s main version of the chip usually runs its main X3 core at 3.2GHz.

The Samsung custom version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to carry essentially the same feature set as the chip used in the OnePlus 11 and other Android flagship devices, but optimised for Samsung phones. There were also rumours that the chip was being made by Samsung’s foundry rather than TSMC, but the original tipster of that information has since retracted that claim.

As far as we know, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Standard Edition comes in four colorways, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, features a 6.1-inch 2340×1080 resolution 120Hz AMOLED display, a 3900mAh battery, supports 25W wired and 10W wireless charging, has 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB It also supports WiFi 6E, IP68 dust and water resistance, and UWB.

Last month Roland Quandt detailed the official accessories for the Galaxy S23 series, which listed the S Pen in black, green, rose (aka light pink) and beige.
